So im thinking of getting the pchdtv-5500 and I have a couple of questions before I buy it.

Thanks for the patch!

I'm using Debian sid here. After rebooting with GrepTar's patch applied to
a vanilla kernel 2.6.16.9, I get a similar message when I launch pchdtvr:

I'm going to be installing an HD-3000 on a machine with a 2.4 kernel.

Is this going to be a big issue? I know the 2.4 drivers are included, but all the howto's I've found are based on 2.6 kernels. ...

I'm not sure if its required but I also have the "DVB Support for saa7134" checked (under Phillips SAA7134 Support in v4l).

By the way, to build pcHDTV's "xine-hd", these packages need to be installed first:

apt-get install zlib1g-dev
apt-get install libasound2-dev
apt-get install libpng12-dev
apt-get install libcurl ...

First, you'll need to use pchdtvr to scan for channels (always run it as root):

mkdir /dtv
./pchdtvr -S


This creates the file /etc/pchdtvr.0.conf
Now you can run pchdtvr without the -S, to r ...

Then to test whether recording works, use Inkling's pchdtvr

After reboot, it seems to also be necessary to re-run the ./minstall script,
to create the device /dev/dtv0.
I'm not sure why it gets removed, but this brings it back:

cd pcHDTV-1.6/kernel-2.6.x/ ...
