I believe that you can import the channels.conf file in the Input Connections section of the mythtv-setup program.. You select the Scan Channels button, then change Scan Type to import.

MythTV will scan for channels, you don't need to use dtvsignal. If there is a /dev/dvb/adapter0 then your card is being seen.

Cable companies often have the cable box remap the channels to make them appear to be on a different channel. This is no different than what the OTA digital channels (ATSC) do.

Scanning for US channels does not work. That is why you have to go through the process of manually adding the channel file.

Were you able to compile the application? If so, I already said what to do:
I put my channels.conf file in the same folder, cd to that folder, and ran this command.

/atsc-converter channels.conf

You need all 5 of the files in the ~pfister directory. Put them all in the same folder, and then run the make command. It should compile a binary file called atsc-converter.
