I have installed a 5500 in Ubuntu 6.10, following directions from pcHDTV. After installing the drivers and toolkit, I try to run a dtvsignal and get the following:
Code:
@DVR:~$ dtvsignal 12
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
ERROR: failed opening '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' (No such file or directory)
dtvsignal ver 1.0.4 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2002,2005,2006
channel = 12 freq = 207000000Hz
 30db       0%         25%         50%         75%        100%
Signal:     |     .     :     .     |     ._____:_____._____|
Signal: 076 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

For some reason, the card is partly not being recognized. Also, if I run a dtvscan, I get the following:
Code:
@DVR:~$ dtvscan -q -o channels.conf
dtvscan ver 1.0.4 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2002,2005,2006
Attempting to open /dev/dtv
/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0: No such file or directory
failed opening any device

Any help as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Isnīt the 5500 card type 47? Why does this not show up as valid? Thanks for any help.

You're only looking at lines that have "DVB" in them. Notice how card 16, 17, 20, 22, etc are missing?

Even running it without the filter for DVB did not show type 47, which I think is the 5500 card. Is this an issue of having too old of a driver? Thanks.

Recompiled my 2.6.18 kernel to include the default 2.6.18 HD-5500 driver. Not sure how to use the drivers from this site though, so I can't use dtvsnr, but at least it works.

The topic I started at the Vector Linux forums if you're interested :

HD-5500 HTPC on Vector5.8Std

Will be posting a HowTo in the wiki for fellow Vector users. Will also be editing the troubleshooting guide there as well.

Hope this helps Smile
