FWIW, I have modified dtvsignal.c to sequentially loop through a series of stations and display their signal strengths. Below is the example output:
Code:

 # dtvsignal 18 19 20 23 29 30 31 32 35 39 41 42 43 47
dtvsignal ver 1.0.4 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2002,2005,2006
modified by M. F. Toups (c) 2006

Channel  0%         25%         50%         75%        100%
   Signal|     .     :     .     |     ._____:_____._____|
 18: 014 -------
 19: 000 .
 20: 081 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
 23: 080 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
 29: 053 =========================
 30: 078 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
 31: 068 #################################
 32: 008 ----
 35: 033 ----------------
 39: 060 =============================
 41: 005 --
 42: 074 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
 43: 070 ##################################
 47: 000 .

The new "help" is:
Code:

# dtvsignal
usage: dtvsignal [-q] [-dvb <value>] [device] channel [channel2] [channel3]...
            -q          : enable QAM decoding
            -dvb <value>: use DVB devices under adapter<value>
            device      : V4L2 device name (-dvb option will override)
            channel     : channel to tune for signal strength
 Note if multiple channels are specified, they will be tuned sequentially in a loop

If a single station is specified, it defaults to the original output.

Code:
# dtvsignal 20
dtvsignal ver 1.0.4 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2002,2005,2006
modified by M. F. Toups (c) 2006

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 509000000 Hz
video pid 0x0021, audio pid 0x0024
channel = 20 freq = 509000000Hz
 30db       0%         25%         50%         75%        100%
Signal:     |     .     :     .     |     ._____:_____._____|
Signal: 080 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

<edit>
FWIW, I modified the code to help in antenna placement/alignment. It's the old problem of optimizing for one station caused me to lose others. Just trying to be helpful since I assume others are facing the same issue.

Thanks!

Thanks! Smile

An alternative/backup link:

dtvsignal.toups.c [sharebigfile.com]
MD5 Sum: a25239abae3e2a6a02a6669e7f7d04d8

Not sure how good sharebigfile.com is, hence the MD5 Sum. Ironicly couldn't use imageshack.us or photobucket, despite its small size.
