Does anyone have a patch for a FC6 (Fedora Core 6) or a fixed kernel rpm? I need inkling's changes, as the stock ones lock up quite frequently on my HD-3000's.

and the dmesg shows the same firmware load problem messages.
If I reload the modules as follows just after rebooting, then pchdtvr works as normal.

modprobe -rv cx88_blackbird
modprobe -rv cx88-dvb
modprobe -rv cx8800
modprobe -v cx88-dvb

I hit this too, on FC5 based system with 2.6.16.11 + the patch.

There must be a timing issue.

Then, even after a succesful load of the firmware, no data was sent to the dvb device (cat of it or using mplayer read no data), though azap displayed good values for signal strength and snr.

Directly playing via mplayer dvb://channel also failed.

Hey Patrick,

You can try to compile and use the modified CVS snapshot I use. It's been working fine here for almost a year now.

I've only seen it drop dead once back in November 2006 when i2c failed on last AOS just before capture and after the reset it didn't get put back into capture mode. I haven't fixed that yet because I've only seen it happen once and I can't seem to duplicate it.

Before you compile this, make sure you either delete the kernel-installed dvb modules or configure the kernel to have:

a) videodev as a module and no devices selected,

b) top level DVB core selected, with nothing else selected below it because this replaces whatever your kernel has, including dvb-core.

c) recompile kernel and reboot before compiling this modified v4l-dvb CVS snapshot.

[ added: d) you might have to edit /etc/hotplug/blacklist and add cx8800 ]

It should be that easy.

It's for HD3000 ATSC only, no NTSC and no other cards are supported in this modified CVS snapshot.

You should be able to find it here:

[ changed: http://70.247.38.254/dtv/ ]

along with the upgrade to pchdtvr called atscap. Smile

My email is down at nop, so apologies in advance if any of the above doesn't help solve your problem.

Good Luck!
