I did a apt-get ubuntu-desktop to get the latest desktop which fixed a problem i was having with GNOME.
However, the system doesnt seem to detect my 5500 card. If I run a dtvscan, I get the following:
dtvscan ver 1.0.4 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2002,2005,2006
Attempting to open /dev/dtv
/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0: No such file or directory
failed opening any device
I went to the /dev directory and the dvb folder is gone. I have no idea why? I tried a make and make install to reinstall the drivers, but that still didnt work. When I look at the device manager in GNOME, it shows the cards on the system as "CX223880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio"
I'm so close to getting my MythTV working...please help!! |

Try this (as root);
| Code: | | # modprobe cx88-dvb |
|

No luck. I enter it and it just goes to a command line, so I dont know if its did anything, but my card still isnt working. Any other ideas?
UPDATE: I realized that I had the 2.6.17-11 Kernel installed somehow, but when I booted up and choose 2.6.17-10 instead, it seemed to recognize my card.
I am trying to:
A) Figure out when the new kernel got installed. All I did earlier today was a 'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop' to get the latest desktop
B) Make my system boot 2.6.17-10 by default since it works and not 2.6.17-11. |
