New Card locks up Alsa!

I have done quite a bit of reading of issues with the HD-5500 and sound but I currently get NO sound with the HD-5500 installed. When I play music, myth will just sit there and when I play any QAM video or analog from my PVR-250, I get no sound. When I run alsaconf, it sees only my Sound Blaster Live! card but freezes when stating "setting default volume". It will also freeze when I run alsamixer.

This problem does not happen with the HD-5500 installed. I have tried different PCI lots, different versions of knoppmyth, taking out the Hauppage card. I also tried what was described here http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/PCI_TV_audio#Driver_Configuration . I am extremely frustrated. I have also pulled out the SB and tried to my mobo sound which had the same results. I am at my wits end and need some help.

I am currently running the latest version of knoppmyth (R5F1) on an AMD64 3200, FX6600GT, and Audigy 2 sound card.

You probably need a file in /etc/modprobe.d containing the line

options cx88_alsa index=-2

This tells the system never to put the HD-5500 in the primary sound card location.
