Hi,
I am finding it very difficult to follow the various web pages trying to get a HD-3000 to work. I am running Mandriva 2007.1 with KDE with a 2.16.17 kernel.
I keep starting over at the beginning. Lately I am using this page:
http://mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Configuring_PCHDTV_card_for_ATSC
From this site I downloaded dvb-atsc-tools-1.0.7(06/14/07).
I unpacked and did the following:
bash-3.1$ make clean
rm -f chopatscfile dtvsignal dtvscan dtvsnr getatsc atscpackets
bash-3.1$ make
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 chopatscfile.c -o chopatscfile
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 dtvsignal.c -o dtvsignal
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 dtvscan.c -o dtvscan
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 dtvsnr.c -o dtvsnr
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 getatsc.c -o getatsc
gcc -Wall -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 atscpackets.c -o atscpackets
bash-3.1$ ./dtvsignal /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 44
failed opening /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
Why the error? Is there some step I am missing?
Please help. |

The HD-3000 requires firmware to be loaded. Have you set this up? The firmware is found on the CD that came with the card. It can also be downloaded from the pcHDTV web site.
Also, you need the cx88-dvb module to be loaded. Check to see if it is already loaded by typing in the command "lsmod" (no quotes).
Otherwise type in "modprobe cx88-dvb" to load the module.
I never bother with anything else. I just install MythTV and it always finds the channels. |

The cx88-dvb was not loaded.
But my PC forgets that is has been loaded with each restart.
What do I do so that is is permanently loaded? |

That would depend on the distribution. I am not familiar with Mandriva.
My Fedora/Suse distros have the modules listed in
/etc/modules.d/
or
/etc/modprobe.d/
The older way was to use the /etc/modprobe.conf file. This still exists, but has been superseded by the /etc/modprobe.d folder. |

I edited it into /etc/modprobe.preload
That did the trick.
Thanks for your help. |
