In /etc/inittab, after the terminals (adjust for how many cards you have, and make the second field the number from initdefault at the top):
Code:

dvb0:3:respawn:/usr/bin/screen -S dvb0 -D -m /usr/local/bin/pchdtvr -i 0 -p /videos/card0/
dvb1:3:respawn:/usr/bin/screen -S dvb1 -D -m /usr/local/bin/pchdtvr -i 1 -p /videos/card1/

then just do "screen -r dvb0" or "screen -r dvb1" to see them, and ^a-^d to put them back in the background. If you accidently press 'q' to quit, it will restart by itself. If it crashes, it will restart. The only crash I've had is because I hit the 2 gig limit on an smbfs mount. That is when I learned I need to use cifs instead.
