I'm using pchdtvr to record, and it is working great (I run it using cron).
In my script that starts pchdtvr, I also use ffmpeg to downsample the TS file to dvd quality in order to save disk space. But sometimes this gives me the weather channel, not the subchannel I want.

How can I do one of the following, preferably through the command line:
1. convert full ATSC ch.TS to single subchannel subch.TS
2. record only one virtual channel using pchdtvr

If I select subchannel 1, is this still likely to be the weather subchannel sometimes?

I've never used cron, but I've used pchdtvr with its own scheduling system. You can either select programs to record from the program guide (p key) or enter them in /etc/pchdtvr.0.conf like this:

T44:20:00:060:0100000:PrisonBreak#.0
T44:21:00:060:0100000:24#.0

Where T44 is the channel, 20 or 21 is the hour, 00 is the minute, 060 is the length, 0100000 mean record on monday, 24 is the name and #.0 means subchannel 0. Then start with pchdtvr -W, then "<cntrl-a> d" to run in the backround with screen. Run pchdtvr -R to reattach.

How do you run it now? Do you pipe to ffmpeg or do you run ffmpeg afterward?
