Anyone experiencing a complete system lock up while interacting with their HD-3000?

I am using Suse 10 and pchdtvr and am seeing the whole system hang. I am talking hit the reset button hung (in days gone past I'd say it looks like a non maskable interrupt is constantly firing and the OS is being starved) cause the system is frozen. If this system isn't interacting with one of its two HD-3000s, then it is rock solid.

I have seen that Inkling has crafted patched drivers for a lock out problem, but, best I can divine, the patch is for when the HD-3000 is refusing to "talk" not when the whole system locks up. Nonetheless, I am not currently running with the patched drivers.

The system can lock up for me when pchdtvr is doing its initial channel scan (generating the conf file), or 3/4 the way through recording an hour long program, or changing channels (for a timed recording), or downloading the program guide. Yet there have been times where everything works perfectly... but working perfectly is definitely the exception.

Any ideas on how to diagnose this?

TIA

Here are some particulars that might be helpful:

Non hyperthreading P4
pchdtvr version 1.0-r1 20060315
uname -a reports:
Linux dhcp173 2.6.13-15.8-default #1 Tue Feb 7 11:07:24 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I'd be glad to post more about the environment if needed...

I have switched over to Mythdora (www.g-ding.tv) and am no longer experiencing the stablity issues.

With the new platform, everything software changed, the distro (Suse to Fedora), the drivers, and recording software (pchdtvr to Myth), so its hard to narrow down what the culprit was....
