Is it possible to have MythTV access both NTSC and ATSC channels using the same tuner card? I can seem to configure digital-only with DVB driver or analog-only with V4L driver, but can't get both playing nicely in Myth. I can get to the channel list, but the front-end segfaults and the driver is nonresponsive until a reboot.

pcHDTV only markets the cards here. They do not give the developers what they need to develop good drivers. xyzzy seems very vocal on that point when he told me to go to hell in so many words.

The big three archs: i386, AMD64, and powerpc. (note: powerpc is the same for both ppc and ppc64) Currently xen is a "virtual" arch of the first two in both SMT/SMP.

Try this: MythTV Setup --> Capture Cards --> DVB:0 --> Recording Options --> Open DVB card on demand.

I understand that MythTV will keep the DVB driver loaded even after you stop viewing HD.

I haven't tried this yet, so let me know if it works.

To do this right requires the SVN mythtv. Works much better that way. I don't think this has all that much to do with the drivers.

You might also need to set a certain "shutdown" parameter in one of the DVB modules to 0; sorry I don't currently have the exact information. But if you don't do that, the DVB driver will shut down the tuner 5 seconds after switching from digital to analog.

I think shutdown has been biting me in the arse for the past week. Will look when I get home. Is that a MythTV configuration, or something that needs to get passed in modprobe.conf? Will do some googling. Right now, been trying to get a PVR-150 card I picked up to work consistently when the 5500 drivers are installed.

In /etc/modprobe.d, create a file containing the line "options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0"

e.g.

sudo echo "options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0" > /etc/modprobe.d/dvb-core
