I did the "make" and "sudo make install" for the drivers I downloaded from pchdtv.com.

I can't seem to get the tuner to work, however. tvtime, etc. all complain about the tuner not being found.

Can anyone make heads or tails of the various outputs here? Or perhaps direct me to a Ubuntu specific HOWTO? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

This is the only part you need to look at:

Thanks for your reply xyxxy. ["Nothing happens."]

So what do I need to do? modprobe [something], right? Or is this where I need to add card=## and tuner=## to a file somewhere? Do we know what card and tuner number the HD-5500 is?

Thanks again.

You need to get a newer version of the driver. The HD-5500 isn't in the list of supported cards that was printed out. You can download a driver with support from pchdtv's site, get the latest driver from linuxtv.org, or install a 2.6.18 kernel.

It might work if you specify a DViCO fusion 5 card (card #31), I think that one is very similar.

I went with the latest driver from linuxtv.org. I needed some very specific help, which I received via their #linutv IRC channel on Freenode.

See the IRC log from 2006-09-28 for the specifics. I'm Tom39.
