I got my 5500 in just 3-4 days ago. Started working on it yesterday and have spent a good 8 hours on it so far with very little luck.

I'm using archlinux (current) with 2.6.18 stock kernel. I installed mythtv via their pacman package manager. (Very easy install)

I started with mythtv-config and could not pickup any stations no matter what selections I choose. I decided to download tvtime to see what would happen, and it instantly displayed my NTSC analog channels 2-70ish without a problem.

I went back to mythtv-setup and tinkered with it some more and finally set the scanning settings to Cable-High \ QAM-256 and it started Adding HD channels. Yay :~|

However the HD channels while watching via LivePlayback are extremely choppy. I would say there is a lag about every 2 seconds. I'm not sure if this is because of the hardware I have, or a software setting.

My main concern is to have the standard analog NTSC as well as some of the Unscrambled Digital channels to come thru. I'm at a loss, and I'm not sure where to go from here. I've attempted to install the newest drivers, (although i shouldn't have too since they are included in the 2.6.18 krnl) but I'm having compile problems. (located here http://pchdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1849) Below is some system stats as well as my lsmod.

well, i've finally got HD semi working... I'm not sure if my CPU is hardcore enuf because it's skipping alot still, but I've had no luck in picking up the standard cable channels. At one point I finally got channel 3 to work, which is CBS or something, but I'm not sure how, and I couldn't get anything past that.

*sigh*

I'd say it's the cpu. I had similar problems with a sempron 2800+ and switching to a dual core AMD64 4200+ took care of my issues. Also make sure you have a very strong signal. I find that mythtv struggles with anything less than 80% even if you turn down the threshold.
