No signal on 5500 card in Boston? Antenna?

So I'm located in Boston and according to antennaweb I have loads of stations available only 7 miles away.

I have a 5500 card running with kernel 2.6.19-r6 using the built in kernel drivers.

All the commands do run, dtvscan, dtvsignal, atscscan, azap, etc.
I also also able to download a channels.conf file already for Boston from http://pchdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1399

I converted the file to be in azap format as well.

Anyways, every program I try, I cannot get a signal lock, it's always 0.00
azap just has 0.00 for signal and no lock.
The status and the SNR seems to fluctuate a little bit.

I think it might have to do with the building I'm in.
I'm in a new construction apartment building, at the ground floor, inner courtyard area with 7 floors above me.
I've tried using two different antennas:
http://www.amazon.com/Zenith-ZHDTV1-HDTV-UHF-Digital-Antenna/dp/B00006FXR9
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000069106

Both hooked up into the card using a standard coax cable.
Still no signal on either.

I've tried pointing in various directions to see if I see a flicker of activity, but no luck.

I can get cell phone reception just fine in my apartment, and cell phones are UHF based, so I think the signals are in the air.

Do I need a different antenna?
Should I almost certainly be seeing *some* signal living only 7 miles away?

Is there a way I can better test the card to see what sort of 'power' it's getting from the antenna that are hooked up to it?

Oh, and the coax input on the card, is it supposed to so easily just kind of 'come off' ?

First off - when you run dtvsignal, does it indicate that it's opened the device properly?

I would then check your connections. The antenna connector on the HD5500 is pretty loose, IMHO.

What kind of antenna are you using?

I moved it to a different box. I also changed to a new antenna.
Now it works GREAT!!!!

Not sure if it was the box or the antenna, need to narrow that down still.

The new box is running an older kernel, 2.6.12.6 with V4L and DVB turned off in the kernel
