Erf, so running tvtime puts my cpu at roughly 10-15% usage, whereas mythtv pegs it at 100% (or close to it). Sounds like my hd thrashes a lot when watching live tv on myth, I'm guessing because of the buffering, but I've tried both increasing and decreasing the buffer size to no avail. Decreasing the LiveTV resolution does help, but I have to drop it below 320x240 to get anything smooth, whereas tvtime's doing 640x480 with no problems.

I'm running an A64 3200 with 1gb of ram on Gentoo 2.6.14. My buffer partition is a isolated drive, on XFS. I've also tried changing my buffer partition to my software raid5, which doesn't seem to make a difference.

Any suggestions??
