Hacking the hardware?

Hello!

A rare but still frustrating problem for me: The F-terminal on the cards are very short from the PCI bracket out. When I try to screw and unscrew my cable from the card I have a rough time getting enough threads to hold the cable onto the terminal. I've thought of hacking off part of the PCI bracket, but I was hoping for a more elegant, and possibly easier solution.

There is a great deal of length on the connector, the bulk of it just lives on the inside of the PCI bracket.

Any ideas are welcome, and if I'm unclear of what my problem is, please respond so I can clarify.

Thanks!

Chad

I don't think it's rare. I have 2 of them and they both have that problem.

Make a cable that has some extra length of the center conductor sticking out, and as long as you can get it to hold once, just don't remove it.

If you remove the screw on the top of the card's bracket, it's easier to get an F cable screwed on a little farther (lets the F connector "float" to the middle of the slot).
