Can't set mythtv to record |

I have the hd3000. my backend is running on a seperate computer with the firewall enabled (it does have the ports open for mysql and the frontend to connect according to the setup), When I try to record a program it doesn't matter how I try to save it I can't select "save these settings". I get the same thing if I try to set up a recording on the server.
I know my card is working because I can record things from the command line. I am using the dvb driver in mythtv and I used that to record from the command line so I know the driver is working.
anohter problem I am having is changing the channel when watching tv. I can only view the channel that I have setup as the default channel. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I am a noob to mythtv so If I haven't included enough information let me know. Thanks.

| I thought I said this in my original message, but the "save these settings" option is greyed out so it can't be selected along with a lot of other options there. Why would this be greyed out and how do I change it? thanks. |

okay it's official, I'm an idiot. apparently the first option on that screen needed to be set to enable the "save these settings" option. Sorry about that
