So I have had this card over a year with the intention of using mythtv. As yet, no luck. I have just installed Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 AMD64 on the system fresh. Anyone have any ideas or advice on where to begin to configure it? Here is my dmesg | grep dvb:
Code:

[   54.737850] cx2388x dvb driver version 0.0.5 loaded
[   54.980833] cx88[0]/2: cx2388x based dvb card
[  693.199161] cx2388x dvb driver version 0.0.5 loaded
[  693.467964] cx88[0]/2: cx2388x based dvb card

I have a similar issue. I usually use this for viewing live HD broadcasts and after the upgrade I noticed that dtvscan and getatsc stopped responding. A little more digging givem me the following for dmesg
[59279.867267] cx2388x dvb driver version 0.0.5 loaded
[59279.867643] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0b.2[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 185
[59279.867654] cx88[0]/2: found at 0000:00:0b.2, rev: 5, irq: 185, latency: 64, mmio: 0xfa000000
[59279.867661] cx88[0]/2: cx2388x based dvb card
[59279.869934] DVB: registering new adapter (cx88[0]).
[59279.869937] DVB: registering frontend 0 (Oren OR51132 VSB/QAM Frontend)...

So the system seems it as a "Oren OR51132 VSB/QAM Frontend" card instead of HD-3000. Is this because of updated drivers?

Thanks

Most how-tos on this installing this card say to copy the firmware files from http://www.pchdtv.com/downloads/firmware.tar.gz and unzipping them to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware. This directory is nonexistant in Dapper.

I got the driver to work by putting it in /lib/firmware/`uname -r`

Can you elaborate? I tried putting the files in there and nothing seemed to work... Thanks. Smile

As root I created /lib/firmware/2.6.15-26-amd64-k8
then I put the contents of the firmware tarball in there.

When ever a new kernel comes out you will need to make sure that the there is an directory in /lib/firmware with its name and that the contents ot the tarball are in there.

I don't know what else to say. This is working form me on both my amd64 and intel core 2 duo boxes.

Actually I think if you put the firmware in /lib/firmware directly it applies to all kernels. Seemed to work with my KWorld card, anyway.
