Since "lspci" shows 4 entries like so...

04:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 05)
04:08.1 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [Audio Port] (rev 05)
04:08.2 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [MPEG Port] (rev 05)
04:08.4 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [IR Port] (rev 05)

I assume that I should enable at least the following in "make menuconfig"...

Multimedia devices --->
Video Capture Adapters --->
<*> Conexant 2388x (bt878 successor) support
<*> Conexant 2388x DMA audio support

Anything else to enable? While we're at it, what sound card do I select for...

00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

And should I emerge anything from the "media-tv" section?

You need this one too:
"DVB/ATSC Support for cx2388x based TV cards"

Then leave this on:
"Build all supported frontends for cx2388x based TV cards"

Or turn that off, and turn one of these on:
"OR51132 ATSC Support" <- for HD-3000
"LG Electronics DT3302/DT3303 ATSC Support" <- for HD-5500

The DMA audio thing is only needed for capturing analog TV sound with ALSA. It is not bad, but you may not need it.

Thanks. I finally found them. They're not in .config by default. Turns out I handn't enabled DVB support... dohhhh. I ended up doing a "grep -r" from /usr/src/linux for the strings you quoted. I used the path to the files to figure out which options to enable to even see the options...
"DVB/ATSC Support for cx2388x based TV cards"
"LG Electronics DT3302/DT3303 ATSC Support"

A day that I learn a new trick in linux is always nice.

Hello,

I currently have an 2000 card but I now have a 5500 card on order. I'm using gentoo and plan on upgrading the kernel for the 5500 card.

Can you guys tell me which gentoo kernel (vanilla?) and rev number you successfully used with your 5500 card?

Also, to recap, are these the kernel options I need to enable for the 5500 card:
Code:
 Multimedia devices --->
     Video Capture Adapters --->
     <*> Conexant 2388x (bt878 successor) support
     <*> Conexant 2388x DMA audio support

     <*> DVB/ATSC Support for cx2388x based TV cards

  Frontends --->
     LG Electronics DT3302/DT3303 ATSC Support

I don't suppose anyone has experience running both a pcHDTV 2000 and a pcHDTV 5500? If so, I'm interested in hearing about your kernel options.

Thanks for your help.
