pcHDTV-5500 NTSC issues

Hey all

I am running knoppmyth, kernel version 2.6.18-chw-13. I am using the drivers that are built in to the kernel for the HDTV5500.


I have read a bunch of posts in this forum and have a list of items to try but I haven't had someone see the same things I see. Currently, I can receive QAM channels fine and everything looks great. I am really happy with that. With NTSC channels, when I am viewing them they look great for 1 second and then go green/fuzzy for about 1 second, then back to looking great for 1 second then back to fuzzy. This continues on indefinately.

At first I was thinking that something was using the dvb device at the same time but would it happen only every second or so and not constantly?

I am going to try to set dvb_shutdown_timeout in the dvb module config and also try setting the Open DVB card on demand setting in myth but i have a feel this may not help.

Does it sound like I might have a bad card? This is what shows up in the syslog every second or so when i am viewing NTSC:

Here is a quick followup.

Setting the Open DVB card on demand setting in myth seemed to resolve this issue. Thanks for all the info on this forum.

Could you maybe be a bit more specific on that? I'm suffering from the same symptoms on my NTSC connection, and I don't see any such option in mythtv...

1. Launch MythTV configuration
2. Go to the Capture cards.
3. Make sure your card is set up as a DVB card.
4. Go to recording options
5. Make sure "Open Dvb card on-demand" is selected ...
