mythbackend locks both analog and digital video devices??

I have noticed that mythbackend seems to lock both the analog and digital tuners on the pcHDTV 5500 card.
Specifically, when mythbackend is running, I can't see any dvb// channel using either mplayer or xine; similarly, using tvtime, the analog channel signal pops up for a second then disappears.

In contrast, using my old Winfast 2000XP Deluxe analog tuner card, I am able to watch tvtime even when mythbackend is running.

So, why does mythbackend lock both the analog and digital devices on the pcHDTV card when it is not actually using those tuners -- i.e. nothing is recording and no one is watching LiveTV?

Is this a mythbackend problem or a pcHDTV problem?
Again, I don't understand why this *doesn't* happen on a pure analog card like the Winfast 2000XP.

Thanks

There's a setting in MythTV to tell it to "Open DVB card on Demand".

There's only one tuner, so when mythtv is actually using the card for digital, you will not be able to tune analog channels (at least not without messing up the digital recording). You can use the S-video or composite inputs though.

Thanks - this fixed the problem (I hadn't noticed this setting before)
