Which devices does the card use?

Hi:

I'm getting my card set up with myth, and I'm wondering which devices should be registered for the card:

Right now, I've got the following devices registered by bttv (according to dmesg | grep bttv

/dev/video0 - pchdtv (not sure ATSC/NTSC)
/dev/video1 - Hauppauge #1
/dev/video2 - Hauppauge #2

Correspondingly, my audios are:

/dev/dsp0 - Sound card DSP.
/dev/dsp1 - btaudio regisetered for Hauppauge #1
/dev/dsp2 - btaudio registered for Hauppauge #2

I noted in the instructions posted here I should be looking for /dev/video32. That doesn't exist for me.

So, I ask:
Which devices should I be using for the HDTV card with myth? Which driver creates the devices / regiesters 'em, or do I have to create 'em / set permissions manually?

/dev/video? - Video
/dev/dsp? - Audio

Thanks!

JF

For HDTV use (we don't have dual NTSC use working with Myth yet), choose the video device /dev/video32. Maybe it was just me, but I couldn't get myth working with /dev/video0. Also, be careful to make sure that /dev/video32 is shown before moving on in the setup screens. Myth likes to default it back to 0.

Ignore the btaudio stuff, because the audio comes from the ATSC stream, and myth grabs it from there.

What driver / application creates / registers /dev/video32?

I don't seem to have that device. Should I just create it?

Also -- so I should select 'none' for the audio within myth?

Thanks,
JF

Hmm. With my gentoo system, they are created by devfs automagically. You can use mknod to create a character device, major number 81l, minor number 32.

As for the audio, I just ignore it, but perhaps none is a better selection.

Might be a recent change, but with the versions of the drivers I'm using, the minstall script creates 81/32 as dtv0.
I linked it to video32, which did not previously exist, and this finally got myth to let me create a card with something besides video0 as the device.
