5500 with Analog Cable and QAM

First off, I'm running a dragon v2.0 from StormLogic, with dual HD-5500s. My audio is being ouputted through the optical spdif on a Chaintech AV-710. KnoppMyth R5F1 runs the show.

OK, so I'm poking around this forum and all I can put together are small portions of the solutions I'm looking for. Basically I'm having the following problems:

1. No sound from Analog Cable.
I think this problem has to do with the way I have my tuners setup. Here's a couple screen grabs...

I've seen lots of mention of configuring the device drivers for the audio inputs and installing patches, but no concrete process has been laid out. I figure all I need to do is configure a device for each card and just change the audio device setting. But I am totally clueless as to how to do this.

2. Weird interference when switching from digital to analog for a few seconds.
I set the open dvb card on demand, which I'm hoping will fix the problem, but I also saw a lot of stuff about setting dvb_shutdown_timeout, how the hell does one do this? (Or should I even need to?)

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows this stuff and is willing to spend time documenting it.

OK, so I've figured out that there was an entry in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base that was stopping the cx88-alsa stuff from loading. I've commented it out and rebooted and my devices now show up. But it doesn't look like they're working.

My KnoppMyth is running Kernel 2.6.18-chw-13. From reading around it seems there may be some problems with this version and cx88-alsa. Anyone willing to confirm that?

Fixed the channel change weirdness by doing the following:

Created a file "/etc/modprobe.d/dvb-core" with a single entry

options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0

Getting analog sound working on KnoppMyth R5F1 with a pcHDTV HD-5500

cx88-alsa.diff
tvaudio.diff

Recompiling modules with patches:

1. Download kernel source from ftp://knoppmyth.net/R5/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13_2.6.18-chw-13-10.00.Custom_all.deb

2. Install package and bunzip archive located in /usr/src/.

3. Apply the attached attached diffs to the following files:
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13.tar/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13/drivers/media/video/cx88/cx88-alsa.c
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13.tar/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13/drivers/media/video/cx88/cx88-tvaudio.c

4. Cd to /lib/modules and move 2.6.18-chw-13 to 2.6.18-chw-13.old

5. Cd to usr/src/linux-source-2.6.18-chw-13 and run "make menuconfig".

6. Scroll down and select "load an alternate configuration file".

7. Specify the file "/boot/config-2.6.18-chw-13", save and exit.

8. Run "make modules", then "make modules_install".

9. Run "depmod" and reboot.

Tweaks:

1. Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:
options cx88-alsa index=-2,-2

2. Add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/dvb-core:
options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0

3. Run mythtv-setup, in the Recorder Options of your DVB card, check "Open DVB card on demand".

4. Enter frontend setup, modify the recording profile for Software Encoders. Set Live TV's sampling rate to 48000.
