Do I just need a better antenna?

I've been searching high and low for more information, but can't seem to find it. My 5500 seems to have installed just fine under Ubuntu running a 2.6.20 kernel.
I'm having issues tuning ATSC signals in Myth. It's roughly 50/50 whether a channel will tune. azap reports FE_HAS_LOCK every time, so I think everything is configured correctly.
Here are typical results from a few troubleshooting programs:

jason@gaming:~$ dtvsnr 23
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 527000000 Hz
video pid 0x0021, audio pid 0x0024
dtvsnr ver 1.0.7 - by Jack Kelliher (c) 2006-2007
channel = 23 freq = 527000000Hz

jason@gaming:~$ dtvsignal 23

I guess what I'm asking is, would I get more reliable channel locks if I got a better antenna? Or is there just a setting in Myth that would help? It seems solid once a channel actually tunes, but it's getting annoying that Myth keeps missing recordings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a section MythTV to change what it considers to be an acceptable signal. You can find it here:
Utilities/Setup --> Setup --> TV Settings --> General --> ATSC Signal Threshold (%)

The default is 65%

If this really is the problem, then maybe a better antenna is really what you need.

Thanks for the response. I fiddled with that setting but didn't really improve the situation.
I picked up a directional antenna and haven't had any issues so far...it's only been 10 minutes though.

I take it back. Myth still has problems obtaining a lock. The only thing the backend reports that's out of whack:
DVBChan(0) Warning: Symbol Rate setting (0) is out of range (min/max:5056941/10762000)

Oh well...
