I *finally* got xine-hd working... sort of. Ubuntu 7.10.

I was finally able to compile it by downloading the "real" xine and reading the output of ./configure. I had to install a shitload of other *-devel packages. Xine-hd can now tune into a specific dvb:// mrl when I type it in directly. However, it claims it can't read the channels.conf file. I have repeatedly scanned and copied the resulting file to .xine. Here are the contents of the file.

I'm able to get xine-hd skin working, and it seems to want to change channels sometimes. But then it craps out, crashes, and I have to kill -9 xine.

Any clue?
thanks

btw I agree the "support" from pchdtv is miserable.
