pchdtv 5500 analog troubles

Hi everyone. I am in desperate need of some help, I have been struggling with this for two days. Analog video comes in fine through tvtime, but when I go a use myth the video is all snowy and green static.

I have a box with 3 tuners in it. My two PVR250's died so I decided to get 2 more pchdtv 5500 to go along with the one I have. One is used to get HD OTA and the other two are connected to SD directv boxes. I was on knoppmyth R5F1, but upgraded to R5.5 in hopes that it would fix the issue. So, I am now trying to get this going on a fresh R5.5 Knoppmyth install.

I have gone through all the module loading and options settings with no success. I thought that maybe myth had to have the /dev/dspN to be able to show video, so I worked on getting them to load up and they now appear, but I still get the same thing. However, I'm not convinced that the /dev/dspN's are working because i either get "/dev/dsp2: Invalid argument" when i try to cat them, or the cat freezes the terminal.

Errors like the one below often appear in the message log when trying to play through myth. I hope someone can shed some light on this, I have searched everywhere and tried everything I can find. I appologize if this was rambling.

Here is the error:

Well I was able to get video working on myth. It turns out that myth was not changing the channel to 3 like it was supposed to. When I used ivtv-tune to set the channel while watching up pops the picture.

Now I just need to figure out how to get sounds to work. I know it's a common problem but none of the solutions seem to work. Everything looks like it should. I have the Audio Port judging by:

Code:
05:07.1 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [Audio Port] (rev 05)

Alsa seems to recognize it:
Code:

 1 [CX8801         ]: CX88x - Conexant CX8801
                      Conexant CX8801 at 0xfc000000

/dev/dsp1 is created:

Code:
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 19 Sep 25 11:46 /dev/dsp1

But whenever anything tries to play from /dev/dsp1 an error is produced:
Code:

sox -t ossdsp -w -c2 -r 48000 /dev/dsp1 -t ossdsp ./test.wav
sox: Failed reading /dev/dsp1: Unable to set the sample size to 16

cat /dev/dsp1
cat: /dev/dsp1: Invalid argument

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Dan
