I'm running ubuntu 11.10 64bit and have a pchdtv 5500 card that I use with mythtv, along with my HD Homerun.

For whatever reason, I cannot get sound while using this card. I see it in pulse audio, it is receiving audio. I can use the built in Sound Record app , click record and I get audio fine.

In mythtv I have it set to capture from ALSA:default ( also tried ALSAulse) and nothing ...

The modules also seem to be loaded fine :

dmesg:

My setup ran fine when I was on 10.04 and 10.10 (32bit), but since I made the move to Natty 64 bit (fresh install ) and my update today to 11.10, it's not functioning correctly for some reason.

1) one the digital side - the card works fine ( with sound )

2) when I do a 'lsmod' I see the module is loaded:

lsmod | grep snd
snd_usb_audio 118064 2
snd_usbmidi_lib 25371 1 snd_usb_audio
snd_hda_codec_realtek 330769 1

soundcore 12680 1 snd
snd_page_alloc 18529 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm

I'm using the latest release of mythtv for this distro - 2:0.24.1+fixes.20111102.5da236

... and have tried both ALSA:default and ALSA:pulse with no success.

Any ideas?

Ok, I finally solved my problem.

I set the audio device to - ALSA,hw:1,0 and it worked!
