How fragile are these cards?

All I did was unplug the analog audio cable from one sound card and plug it into another with the machine on, and now my HD-5500 seems to be fried!

The subsystem ID is now reported as 3063:5500, rather than 7063:5500.

Just to find out, I hacked the kernel DVB driver to recognize the "new" subsystem ID. The driver then loaded and ran fine, and OTA signal strength was the same as before, but no MPEG data was extracted from the signal whatsoever.

Are these cards THAT fragile? Neither the HD-5500 nor any sound card was in use at the time. Both sound cards are still working fine.

The HD-5500 was working fine just last night, as it had for years. Now it's gone. No football.

Fortunately I had an old HD-3000 stashed away, which I managed to get working.

So now maybe football anyway....

The football game was great.

The HD-3000 does quite well, thank you. Still....
