You can get the latest xine-lib and xine-lib based players directly from xine-hq.

You can also get various xine-based players through your distribution's package manager. Make sure you can get xine-lib-1.1.3 or greater.

Once xine is installed, you will need a configuration file to tell xine what channels it can receive. This is named channels.conf and it is located in the .xine directory of your home. (~/.xine/channels.conf) The channels.conf file can be generated from dtvscan in the dvb-atsc-tools package from pcHDTV, or the v4l-dvb-apps package from LinuxTV, or the atscscan program created by one of our forum contributors xyzzy.

With a channels.conf file in place, you should only need to start xine and select the DVB input on the xine control panel. You should now be seeing the first channel in your list. You can use the xine navigation panel to move up and down through your channel list to select the channels you want to watch.
